Focus is a support group of people from the Hastings and Rother area who meet each month to talk about a range of local mental health issues.
Many of us have used the Hastings and Rother mental health support services in the past and some still do, which helps us to understand the issues involved. We want to ensure that the Hastings and Rother services meet our support needs. We are involved in the planning of future services and monitoring the quality of the present services in East Sussex. We have good relations with health care managers and planners who often join Focus group meetings to talk to us, hear our opinions and talk over issues we are concerned about.
The group started about 1995, to give organised response from the point view of mental health service users to the plans to close Queen Charlotte's Hospital.
